TSO UADS Security

 

Summary of Services

 

The objective of this service is the elimination of the ten User Attribute Datasets (UADS) currently being separately maintained to register TSO users on the Corporate, East Coast, West Coast, and Central systems.   The UADS information is to be consolidated and moved into the single TSS database that now serves all of these systems.

 

InfoSec consultants had previously consolidated the eleven separate mainframe security databases into a single consolidated TSS security database. Now, this effort would be to eliminate the UADS files currently being separately maintained on each of these systems.  This information would be consolidated and moved into the single TSS security database. To preserve current TSO logon look and feel and to minimize end-user impact and awareness, this project would include updating of the TSO pre-prompt exit. Benefits of this objective include:

 

Ř       Reduced, single-point administration:  One TSS file versus many UADS files

Ř       Elimination of nightly batch “UADS sync” jobs

Ř       Resolves concern of UADS obsolescence by IBM

 

 

Detailed Description of Services

 

  1. Perform consolidation, conversion and movement of UADS entries into TSS including:

 

13,000 TSO Users defined on Corporate

  4,100 TSO Users defined on East Coast

  2,800 TSO Users defined on West Coast

  1,000 TSO Users defined on Central 

 

  1. Update extensively the existing TSO logon “pre-prompt” (IKJEFLD) system userexit to provide end-user transparency and identical look-and-feel during the change from UADS to TSS.

 

  1. Removal of the special TSOMPW code currently within the TSS installation userexit.
